Ice dams can be created when large areas of melting snow become trapped and re-freeze along the roof line, preventing melted ice from draining off your roof. Untreated ice dams can lead to water leaks in your home, causing costly damage to your walls, ceiling, floors, and furniture. In addition, large chunks of ice can come loose and fall from the roof, with the potential for additional damage or injury.
This winter’s harsh weather systems are likely to provide many opportunities for these hazards to form on your roof, but many insurance policies do not cover ice melting damage. The costs for ice dam removal may be pennies on the dollar compared to the damage water can do on the inside of your home.
Our goal is to remove as much snow as possible from areas that will melt and then contribute to ice dam build-up. We will remove built up snow from the roof using specially made roof rakes, starting from the ground and, where necessary, from ladders and from the roof itself. We will create channels in the ice at the gutter line to allow any melting water to escape safely instead of contributing to further ice damming problems.
Before beginning work, our crews will confirm your areas of greatest concern. They can make suggestions if you don’t have a preferred starting point. This discussion will be based on how much you would like to spend on the service and how much of the roof actually needs clearing. Snow removal and ice dam work, especially on roofs, is a time-consuming and potentially hazardous process.
